In March and April, I will be volunteering at The Monkey Farm in Playa Ocotal, Costa Rica. The Monkey Farm is run by volunteers from all over the world who come to live and learn on the farm. We are striving to create the World’s first wildlife rescue center that is completely self-sufficient and sustainable. In addition to helping animals, The Monkey Farm is also involved in many community service activities. We have been feeding the homeless every Tuesday evening for four years. We are also on our third year teaching English for Free to adults every Monday and Wednesday evening. Last year, The Monkey Farm added FREE Equine Activities for children with disabilities as yet another one of our many community services.

There is an ever-increasing demand for a monkey rescue and rehabilitation center in this area, so I am helping to create one. Monkeys and other arboreal wildlife are killed daily by uninsulated electrical transmission systems that humans have built through wildlife habitats. Power companies are unable to cover the extra cost of shielding transformers and lines.

Costa Rica lost half its monkey population between 1995 and 2007, and the problem gets worse every year. The Monkey Farm is taking big steps to care for hurt animals, as well as permanently reduce the number of injuries and deaths in the rainforest by shielding cables and creating monkey bridges. Please help us spread awareness about this issue and donate to support our hard work!

The Monkey Farm’s vision is to help and heal all kinds of wildlife while creating a sustainable organic farm, run by volunteers from all over the world. At the same time, we help humans too, in any way we can. We’re eager to work hard towards our farm’s growth and capacity to save animals and help people, and your support means the world to us!

I would like to help with paying for general expenses for the farm such as feed and veterinary bills, medicines, new enclosures, etc., by raising $500 to help.
